Vice President for Equity and Inclusion
About the position
The vice president for equity and inclusion (VPEI) serves as a thought leader on matters of community, equity, inclusion, and diversity, partnering with faculty, staff, students, and alumni to advance MIT’s commitment to inclusive excellence. The VPEI helps the people of MIT understand and live up to the Institute’s shared values of excellence and curiosity, openness and respect, and belonging and community. The VPEI also leads the implementation of the Institute’s Strategic Action Plan for Belonging, Achievement, and Composition, and oversees MIT’s MindHandHeart and MLK Scholars programs. Drawing on the strength and energy of our community’s extraordinary diversity of experiences and backgrounds, the VPEI cultivates a caring community so that everyone at MIT can do their best work and thrive.
