The chief innovation and strategy officer (CISO) plays a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the Institute’s strategic research, educational, and entrepreneurship priorities. Reporting to the president, the CISO collaborates with key stakeholders across MIT and in industry to launch initiatives in support of these strategic priorities. The CISO develops an implementation plan to advance the Institute’s key strategic research priorities and plays a leadership role in securing resources needed for MIT faculty and researchers to accelerate their ideas to impact. The CISO grows and supports existing entrepreneurship and innovation programs across MIT, in addition to identifying opportunities to create new programs that support student, postdoc, and faculty entrepreneurs. A central aspect of the role is fostering relationships between MIT and key industry leaders, leading to new industry programs and collaborations. Additionally, the CISO will work to advance educational initiatives and explore new academic programs to better prepare MIT students for a variety of career paths.
