Vice Chancellor for Student Life

Akirah Bradley-Armstrong oversees many areas related to graduate and undergraduate student life at MIT: well-being and student support; residential life programs; fraternities, sororities, and independent living groups; housing and dining; student activities and associated services and facilities; student support services, violence prevention and response; student disability services; religious life; and athletics, physical education and recreation. She is a member of the chancellor’s senior team at MIT. 

Bradley-Armstrong joined the Division of Student Life in October 2026 after serving as vice chancellor for student affairs and success at the University of California, Santa Cruz, vice chancellor of student affairs at the University of Colorado Boulder, and in senior student life roles at the University of California, Berkeley.

Bradley-Armstrong holds a doctorate of education in educational leadership from the University of California, Davis, a master of education in higher education and student affairs administration from the University of Vermont, and a bachelor of science in business administration from Mansfield University. Her academic interests center on crisis management and well-being, and she is passionate about supporting the success of students.

A native of Philadelphia, Bradley-Armstrong and her wife, Monica, are excited to have moved back to the East Coast with their two children. Spending time with students is Bradley-Armstrong’s favorite part of her job. You will see her out at community activities and athletic events, so stop by and say hello!
