To the members of the MIT community,

Last academic year, MIT launched a series of six campus symposia on the existential threat of climate change and the urgent need for action.

I am delighted to announce that, after a pandemic pause, MIT is ready to resume the series, virtually, with the final two events:

The Role of Research Universities and MIT’s Climate Initiatives

Co-chaired by Professor Paula Hammond, Department Head of Chemical Engineering, and Julie Newman, Director of MIT Sustainability

What Is the World Waiting For? Policies to Fight Climate Change
Monday, November 16, 2020 2:00-4:00 p.m. EST
Chaired by Institute Professor Emeritus John Deutch
Registration opens in October

Through this series, the Climate Grand Challenges and ongoing efforts across our community, I am inspired to continue our work, together, to advance solutions to the defining challenge of our time.

I hope you will join us this fall.

Sincerely,

L. Rafael Reif
