Invitation to forum for institutional reaccreditation (graduate)

Dear students,

I am writing to invite you to attend an open forum as part of MIT’s comprehensive review for institutional reaccreditation.

Over the last 18 months, the Institute has conducted a self-study to examine how MIT has changed since its last comprehensive review in 2009, to think critically about the present, and to imagine possibilities for the future. This effort produced a report, which MIT submitted to its accrediting agency, the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), over the summer. You can read more here.

Later this month, a 10-person team of peer evaluators will visit campus for a series of meetings, including an open forum with graduate students. The evaluators are eager to hear directly from you about the MIT graduate experience. Here are the forum details:

Monday, September 23 (note new time and location)
5:00 – 6:00 PM
Room 46-3002

Our guests will invite your comments and insights about what it’s like to be a student at MIT. These discussions will inform the evaluation process and the team’s report to NECHE. You may come and go throughout the hour.

I encourage you to attend.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Barnhart
Chancellor
