CVS/MIT Health Vaccination Clinics

To the MIT Community,

Flu season is around the corner, and we strongly recommend a flu vaccine to help protect you from influenza this year. This email contains important information about getting your flu and COVID-19 immunizations on campus and at Lincoln Laboratory.

This year, MIT Health is partnering with CVS Health to provide both flu and COVID-19 immunizations for the MIT community:

All appointments must be scheduled through the CVS Health scheduling system. For campus appointments, select your preferred location and time, then click schedule online. The link will take you to the CVS Health registration page where you can make your appointment.

You will need your health insurance card to schedule your appointment, and any fees associated with your immunization(s) will be billed to your insurance. Nearly all health insurance plans – including all MIT-sponsored health insurance plans – fully cover the cost of flu and COVID-19 vaccines.

Vaccines are available to all members of the MIT community and their immediate family members ages 5 and older. This includes:

• Enrolled students, living on or off campus
• All MIT employees and contractors
• All MIT Lincoln Laboratory personnel
• MIT retirees and spouses
• Immediate family members of the previously listed groups

High-dose flu vaccines will be available for individuals aged 65 and older. A limited number of doses of Flucelvax®, an egg-free flu vaccine, will also be available at each clinic. Same-day appointments may be available on a case-by-case basis, but you will need to schedule your vaccine through the CVS system. To check for same-day appointment availability, scan the QR code at the vaccination clinic entrance.

If you need documentation of your vaccine, you can access it via the CVS Health portal account you use to make your appointment. Alternatively, you can also visit the state vaccine record database for information.

Other options for getting your vaccines

Can’t make it to the clinic? You can also get your flu vaccine at a retail pharmacy, at a flu clinic in your community, or from your primary care provider at MIT Health or elsewhere. All MIT-sponsored insurance plans allow you to get your flu vaccine anywhere Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is accepted.

About this year’s vaccines

The 2026–2027 flu vaccine offered through the CVS/MIT Health vaccination clinics is trivalent, protecting against two strains of influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and one strain of influenza B. The vaccine is preservative-free and does not contain thimerosal. The flu vaccine does not provide protection against COVID-19. You will need to sign up to receive a COVID-19 vaccine to be protected from the latest strains of COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccine offered at MIT will be Moderna, while supplies last. Doses of the Pfizer vaccine may be substituted according to availability.

Remember: Active flu strains are different each year, so even if you got a flu vaccine last year, we strongly recommend that you get this year’s vaccine.
