Dear members of the MIT community,

As you know, I believe our best tool for amplifying the Institute’s positive impact is to help the people of MIT do big things together. That’s the central idea behind our suite of presidential initiatives – and today, I’m excited to invite you to the launch of the MIT Quantum Initiative, or QMIT (which rhymes with “qubit”).

Under the leadership of Professor Danna Freedman, QMIT will elevate MIT’s longstanding strengths in quantum science and engineering, with the goal of turning quantum breakthroughs into unprecedented capabilities. In collaboration with MIT Lincoln Laboratory, industry leaders and end users from all domains, researchers from across the traditional quantum disciplines will work to identify and advance the most significant practical applications in science, technology, industry and national security. You can learn more about QMIT’s pursuit of quantum “early adopters” in this MIT News article.
