Faculty resource for graduate student support
Dear faculty members,
We write with a reminder about an important resource to support you and your graduate students. The GradSupport team in the Office of Graduate Education (OGE) provides direct support to grad students, as well as expert advice to faculty and staff.
This new brochure, OGE GradSupport & Faculty in Partnership, provides a brief description of how GradSupport can help you as a faculty member. It includes warning signs that might indicate a student is in distress; specific issues the GradSupport team can help with; and what to expect when partnering with GradSupport.
If you have a student who is underperforming or not showing up in their usual way, please reach out at the first sign of concern. The GradSupport team is made up of staff experts who can connect with your student and help develop a support plan.
For more information:
- Check out the new brochure; printed copies have also been provided to your department’s graduate administrator.
- Visit the GradSupport webpage or the MIT Faculty Guide for more information.
- Write to gradsupport@mit.edu with questions or to schedule an appointment.
Thank you for all your efforts to teach and support our graduate students.
Sincerely,
Paula Hammond
