Dear Colleagues,

As announced in November, in order to ensure compliance with the new Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA) and MIT’s revised sick and family leave policies, the Institute has engaged a vendor, Workpartners. Beginning on February 24, Workpartners will administer leaves related to MIT’s sick leave policies, Paid Parental Leave, and other family leaves, as well as those covered by relevant federal and state laws, including the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), as well as the PFMLA.

You can learn more about the types of leaves available, review MIT leave policies, and find answers to frequently asked questions on the Human Resources website.

The transition to Workpartners for administration of leaves will be effective on February 24, 2021. As of that date, you must contact them to request any of the following continuous or intermittent leaves:

  • Your own serious health condition.
  • The birth of a child or placement of an adopted or foster child.
  • The serious health condition of a qualifying family member.
  • Certain leaves related to a family member in the Armed Forces.

To submit a leave request or a modification to an existing leave, contact Workpartners at 1-833-852-2207; TTY users, please call 711 and provide this phone number. Workpartners will then provide the necessary forms via email or postal mail.

If you have any questions about this transition or MIT policies, please contact leavepolicies@mit.edu, (617) 253-4272, or your Human Resources Officer.

Sincerely,

Ramona Allen
Vice President for Human Resources
