Seeking candidates: Senior Vice Provost for Research
Dear colleagues,
I write to announce an internal search to fill an important new faculty role that will strengthen MIT’s research enterprise – senior vice provost for research (SVPR).
Reporting to me with a dotted line to President Kornbluth, the SVPR will be responsible for stewarding MIT’s research enterprise and fostering an outstanding research environment for MIT’s faculty, postdocs, research and administrative staff, and students. The SVPR will set a strategic vision and enable major research initiatives that cut across the Institute, building on the ongoing work of the research administration teams. The SVPR will also maintain and enhance our research administration, policy, and compliance infrastructure.
Next steps on the search and proposing candidates
To ensure the search is informed by a range of experiences, perspectives, and priorities, we will be forming a faculty search committee representing the schools and the college to advise and assist me in assessing candidate qualifications. I am grateful that Tyler Jacks, David H. Koch (1962) Professor of Biology, has agreed to chair this search committee.
If you’d like to be considered for the position, please write to svprsearch@mit.edu to submit your CV and a statement of interest. You can also use this address to nominate a colleague for the role, or share your thoughts about the search.
With your help, I look forward to identifying an exceptional Institute research leader in the coming weeks. Thanks for your attention to this.
Sincerely,
Cindy
Cynthia Barnhart
