Special holiday closings for faculty and staff

October 4, 2016
Lorraine A. Goffe, Vice President for Human Resources, 2015–2018 |

Dear MIT Community,

We are pleased to announce that MIT will observe Special Holiday Closings for faculty and staff on Friday, December 23, 2016 and Friday, December 30, 2016. These are in addition to MIT being closed on Monday, December 26, 2016 and Monday, January 2, 2017 in celebration of the holidays.

MIT is a 24/7 community, however, and we recognize that certain operations, including those associated with research, as well as Facilities, MIT Police, Housing, Medical, Lincoln Laboratory, EHS, IS&T, the Division of Comparative Medicine, and other DLCs will require continuous staffing despite the special closings.

In December, we will forward the procedures and guidelines regarding Pay Policies to administrators and managers with instructions for time reporting these closings. The full schedule of Institute and Special Holidays can be found on the Institute Holiday Calendar.

We hope that many will enjoy the extra time off at the year-end holidays.

Sincerely,

Lorraine A. Goffe-Rush
VP for Human Resources
