Special Holiday Closing, Friday, July 5

Dear colleagues,

I write with some good news for the summer.

The Institute will observe a Special Holiday Closing for faculty and staff on Friday, July 5, 2024. Combined with the regularly scheduled holiday closing on Thursday, July 4, 2024, for most employees this extra day will turn the July 4th holiday into a four-day weekend.

Some areas and operations at the Institute need continuous staffing, whether remotely or on site. Hourly staff who work on July 5 will be paid under MIT’s special holiday pay rules. Human Resources will follow up with administrators and managers with more detail on pay policies.

I hope this long summer weekend will provide rest, relaxation, and time with family and friends.
