Parley API now available to the MIT community (undergraduate students)

Dear MIT undergraduate students,

Following a successful beta program, the Parley API (Application Programming Interface) is now available to all MIT faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

Parley has already helped thousands of members of our community explore generative AI through a secure MIT-managed platform. With the introduction of the Parley API, you can now access those same AI capabilities programmatically. This allows software you build or use to send requests directly to Parley's AI models and receive responses automatically, without using the chat interface. You can use this capability to build applications, automate workflows, and integrate AI into the tools you use every day. With the Parley API, you can bring MIT's AI services—including integrations with Claude Code, Codex CLI, and OpenCode—into your own applications and tools without managing separate accounts with multiple AI providers.

To help the community get started, IS&T is providing $10 in complimentary monthly API credits to all undergraduate students. These API credits are provided separately from the credits you currently receive for using Parley's chat interface. The Parley API is a usage-based service, and students who require additional capacity may purchase additional credits using a personal credit card.

In addition to personal API accounts, Parley API supports multiple accounts for research grants, classes, labs, and other collaborative projects, making it easier to manage usage, budgets, and funding across teams and initiatives.
