New Climate Project RFP on Agriculture and Food Systems
Dear colleagues,
The MIT Climate Project, in collaboration with MIT Health and Life Sciences Collaborative and the Abdul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab, is pleased to announce a new Request for Proposals: The Agricultural Transformation for Land, Atmosphere, and Society (ATLAS) Program is now open to MIT faculty and principal investigators.
The ATLAS Program aims to catalyze transformative advances in agriculture and food systems that address the intertwined challenges of climate change, ecosystem enrichment, and human health. We are seeking ideas to back bold, interdisciplinary efforts that can develop fundamental scientific breakthroughs, social innovations, or deployable, equitable solutions.
We invite MIT principal investigators to submit proposals for projects ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 for direct costs. Up to $2 million will be available in this call.
Letters of intent are due on Monday, August 31, at 5 p.m. ET. Selected letters of intent will be invited to apply to the program.
Full details – including eligibility, scope, merit criteria, and submission instructions – are available on InfoReady and at climateproject.mit.edu.
The Climate Project vision is that by mid-century, communities around the world are thriving because the systems that support daily life have been fundamentally redesigned to cut emissions, build resilience, and deliver well-being under real-world conditions. Agriculture and food systems represent a critical frontier, one that fundamentally shapes human and environmental well-being, energy consumption, resource use, and community resilience.
We look forward to hearing your ideas on how MIT can advance this important mission.
Sincerely,
Evelyn Wang
