MIT Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 12, 2025
Dear MIT students and colleagues,
Every November 11, in recognition of Veterans Day, we honor America’s veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve and sacrifice for our country. The holiday is an opportunity to give thanks and recognition to not just veterans, but also to their families and friends who have supported them.
With that in mind, I encourage you to attend the 2025 MIT Veterans Day celebration in Lobby 13 on November 12, from 4:00-5:30pm. Please spread the word and RSVP online.
We are fortunate to have a vibrant community of over 100 student veterans at MIT, as well as veterans who are staff, faculty, instructors, and alumni from all five of our Schools and the College. In fact, some may be serving right now in the National Guard, reserves, or are on active duty.
Within GUE, we are home to MIT’s ROTC programs that provide education and leadership training for undergraduate students from MIT, Harvard, Tufts, Wellesley, and other local schools, and the Student Veterans Success office.
The Institute’s student veterans are from all branches and career fields in the military, from pilots, to special operations, to administration. Moreover, spouses or children of those in the military or of veterans who are studying here are part of our campus. Their expertise, experience, and wisdom strengthen our entire community.
Finally, thanks to the work of Liam Gale, Student Veteran Success is hosting a donation drive in collaboration with Toys for Tots. To participate, bring new, unwrapped toys to one of our on-campus donation boxes located in 5-117, 76-158, E51-255, W59, or the lobby of E38. You can also make a contribution through Atlas by selecting Marine Toys for Tots (Middlesex and Essex Counties) as your recipient charity. MIT covers the credit card fees so 100% of your donation will go directly toward bringing holiday cheer to children in need. For more information, reach out to veteransuccess@mit.edu.
On this Veterans Day—and every day—I ask you to join me in thanking all those in our community and across the country who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
Sincerely,
Dave
