Help the Community Service Fund support our local community

Dear MIT staff and faculty,

Throughout the pandemic, we have been inspired by the creative, compassionate ways our community has answered the question “How can I help?” Through education, research, and innovation, we are advancing important solutions to Covid-19, as one would expect from MIT. But, of course, we are also dedicated to service – to the nation, the world, and our local communities.

With support from many of you, in the spring Community Giving at MIT and the Community Service Fund (CSF) established the Covid-19 Neighborhood Response Fund, which supports six Cambridge organizations in addressing food insecurity, unemployment, and homelessness – all problems that have been exacerbated by the pandemic. CSF also provided rapid response grants, supporting a student working to refine a low-cost ventilator for rural use, and a team of MIT volunteers who produced and distributed personal protective equipment – including thousands of face coverings – to local hospitals, nonprofits, and individuals.

The generosity of MIT’s faculty and staff fuels the CSF. If “How can I help?” is still on your mind, please consider a donation to the CSF or Neighborhood Response Fund, via payroll deduction or credit card, by visiting the “Charitable Contributions” page on Atlas. Whatever organization you select will receive 100% of your donation. If you have already contributed, thank you!
