Martin A. Schmidt, Provost, 2014–2022 | Maria T. Zuber, Vice President for Research |

Dear colleagues,

We write to let you know of some important changes in responsibilities for Associate Provosts Krystyn Van Vliet and Tim Jamison.

First, it is with pleasure that we share the news that Professor Van Vliet has agreed to expand her responsibilities, and will now serve as associate vice president for research in addition to her role as associate provost.

Within the Office of the Vice President for Research, Krystyn will oversee Research Administration Services, Research Development, Research Facilities, and related areas of research administration systems and reporting.

In her ongoing work as associate provost, Krystyn will continue to oversee the Planning Subcommittee of the Committee for Renovation and Space Planning, capital projects, and MIT’s lease portfolio. She will also maintain oversight of the Office of Strategic Alliances and Technology Transfer and related areas.

To enable Krystyn’s new duties, Professor Jamison has agreed to expand his duties, assuming oversight of campus space assignments and renovations. Tim will now co-lead the Renovations Subcommittee of the Committee for Renovation and Space Planning, with Vice President for Campus Services and Stewardship Joe Higgins.

We extend our deep appreciation to both faculty members for their willingness to take on these additional areas of responsibility in support of MIT’s mission.

Sincerely,

Martin A. Schmidt, Provost

Maria T. Zuber, Vice President for Research
