L. Rafael Reif, President, 2012–2022 |

To the members of the MIT community:

This past year has challenged us in nearly every aspect of our lives, but it has also given us one great gift: a deeper appreciation of our MIT colleagues.

In this spirit of gratitude, I am delighted to announce that on Wednesday, June 23, we will honor the recipients of the 2021 MIT Excellence Awards and Collier Medal in a webcast video event. Please mark your calendars and tune in to celebrate their outstanding contributions to our community.

2021 MIT Excellence Awards and Collier Medal
Wednesday, June 23, 2021
3:00–4:00 p.m. Eastern Time

MIT hosted the first Excellence Awards ceremony in 2001 to recognize staff contributions to the Institute’s mission and vision. In the 20 years since, MIT Excellence Award recipients have modeled leadership, innovation, inclusion and service to our community.

The Collier Medal honors the memory of Officer Sean Collier, who gave his life eight years ago protecting and serving the MIT community. In honor of Sean’s model citizenship, which far transcended the duties of his job, the Collier Medal celebrates an individual or group whose actions demonstrate the importance of community.

If you have questions, please contact Cori Champagne, Recognition Program Administrator in Human Resources, at excellence@mit.edu.

I hope you will join us on June 23!

Sincerely,

L. Rafael Reif
