Call for Proposals: MIT-GE Vernova Energy and Climate Alliance
Dear colleagues,
Earlier this spring, we launched the MIT-GE Vernova Energy and Climate Alliance to help advance the development and deployment of sustainable energy systems around the globe. I am writing to share two exciting developments: a leadership update and a call for research proposals.
First, I am thrilled to share that Betar Gallant SB ’08, SM ’10, PhD ’13, Kendall Rohsenow Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has been named faculty director of the Alliance. Betar leads pioneering research in carbon management, battery innovation, and electrochemical technologies for decarbonization. Her deep expertise at the intersection of energy science and climate solutions makes her exceptionally well suited to guide the Alliance’s mission of accelerating impactful, collaborative research.
Second, I am pleased to announce the Alliance is now accepting research proposals for transformative energy technologies and innovations.
Selected projects will align with the Alliance’s core innovation pillars:
- Electrification
- Decarbonization
- Renewable Energy Acceleration
- Digital (AI, Quantum, Cybersecurity)
Each selected project may receive up to $300,000 (inclusive of F&A) for the project duration.
There will be an information session on May 20 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Building 45 on the eighth floor. At this event, you will have an opportunity to hear from researchers at GE Vernova and ask questions. Please RSVP for the event at this link.
Submit your proposal by June 16
Proposals will be reviewed by a joint MIT-GE Vernova committee. For questions about this opportunity or the MIT-GE Vernova Alliance, please contact Tia Giurleo at tgiurleo@mit.edu. I encourage many of you to participate in this exciting initiative.
Sincerely,
Anantha P. Chandrakasan
