2025 Special Holiday Closings

Dear MIT staff and faculty,

I am writing to follow up on President Kornbluth’s earlier message. This year, along with our regular Winter Break, the Institute will observe two additional special holidays: Tuesday, December 23, and Wednesday, December 24.

Throughout a year of unprecedented challenges, staff and faculty have contributed to MIT in innumerable ways. You are the backbone of the Institute and enable our academic excellence and world-changing research. We hope that this additional time off will help you rest, relax, and recharge.

Because MIT is a 24/7 community, certain operations will require continuous staffing despite these special closings. We will send administrators and managers procedures, guidelines, and instructions regarding pay policies later today.
