Dear members of the MIT community,

Last December, Dan Hastings, professor and head of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Tracy Gabridge, deputy director of MIT Libraries, were selected to lead the Values Statement Committee and its charge to develop a draft values statement for the community.

We’re pleased to announce that the committee will present its findings and a draft statement at noon on Wednesday, October 20, during an online community meeting for staff, students, and faculty.

MIT Community Meeting: An Online Conversation on Values
Wednesday, October 20, 12:00–1:00 p.m. ET

An ASL interpreter will be available during the webcast.

A recording of the webinar will be available to view shortly after the event.

The event will feature a welcome from President Reif and a presentation by members of the MIT Values Statement Committee.

You will be able to submit questions and hear directly from committee members about the development of the values statement. The community meeting is open to all staff, students, and faculty, and no RSVP is required.

We hope many of you can join us for this important community event. If your schedule prevents you from attending, please know that the committee will be hosting additional engagement opportunities throughout the semester.

Sincerely,

Melissa Nobles
Chancellor
