The dean for digital learning (DDL), who reports to the vice president for open learning, leads the Office of Digital Learning (ODL) as it empowers MIT faculty to use digital technologies to augment and transform how they teach. ODL catalyzes and supports digital learning innovation by MIT faculty and departments in the service of learners on campus and beyond. It creates and sustains online modules, courses, MicroMasters, and more as the technology for doing so continues to evolve and advance, as well as the innovations in MIT residential education that these technologies make possible. The DDL is also charged with building and strengthening connections between ODL and academic departments such that change in how faculty and students at MIT practice teaching and learning with technology can come from the bottom up, and such that they can project their vision for education in their disciplines to a global community of learners.
