Remembering Sean Collier Today

April 15, 2015
Israel Ruiz, Executive Vice President and Treasurer, 2011–2020 | John DiFava, Chief of the MIT Police |

To the members of the MIT community,

Today, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is encouraging cities and towns across Massachusetts to join Boston in a moment of silence at 2:49 P.M., marking the second anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. Those who pause to reflect, whether at that exact moment or at another time in the coming days, will remember those who lost their lives in the attack and its aftermath.

One of them was our own MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, whose permanent memorial will be dedicated at noon on April 29th, followed by a picnic for the whole MIT community in the North Court. We hope to see you there.

Sean served MIT with honor, and he gave of himself joyously and generously as an enthusiastic and beloved member of this community. May his memory live on.

Sincerely,

Israel Ruiz
Executive Vice President and Treasurer
