Save the date: Inauguration of L. Rafael Reif on September 21, 2012

Dear MIT faculty, staff, and students:

I invite you to save the date of Friday, September 21, 2012 for the inauguration of L. Rafael Reif as MIT's 17th president. All are welcome to attend the ceremony, which will open with an academic procession that will highlight the breadth of the MIT community: senior officers, faculty, MIT Corporation members, and selected staff, student, and alumni leaders will be invited to march. Delegates from colleges, universities, and academic associations around the world will join the procession in recognition of MIT's place in the academy.

More detail about the inauguration ceremony and all the festivities planned for that week will be available late in the summer. In the meantime, questions may be directed to the Office of Institute Events.

We hope that you will be present as we celebrate this moment and look to the future of MIT.
